Ventilation

Ventilation is an essential part for maintaining and controlling air quality by removing excess moisture from the home. A drafty house is not the same as having good ventilation. Even in the most air tight houses good ventilation is still very important to stop the house getting damp.

Sona Air also specialise in passive home ventilation.

Positive Pressure Ventilation

Positive pressure ventilation systems are the most common type of home ventilation available in New Zealand. They force filtered air from your roof space into the house through ceiling vents. Roof spaces can be polluted with dust, insects and vermin droppings so keeping the air supply is very important. To achieve this a good quality filter should be installed and cleaned regularly.

Balanced Pressure Ventilation

Balanced Pressure Ventilation systems have two separate fans. One fan provides fresh outdoor air into the house and one fan which extracts an equal volume of air from inside the house to the outside. Heat from the exhaust air is transferred to the fresh incoming air via the heat exchanges to provide pre-heated fresh air into the home.

Passive Homes

A passive home is a defined standard of build quality that will achieve a certain energy efficient criteria. An integrated balanced fresh air system is part of the building standard.

Sona Air can design and install a system to suit using the world renowned Zehnder System.
