Conscious
Sona Air helps businesses choose air conditioning around the way their premises operate. Whether you are planning a fit-out, replacing an ageing system or dealing with uneven temperatures, we start with the building, its occupants and your opening hours. Our Albany team can assess the site, explain suitable options and provide an itemised proposal for the work.
Plan for both seasons
Cool in summer. Comfortable all year.
Cooling when the building heats up
Sun through glazing, busy customer areas and heat from equipment can affect how much cooling a space needs. Tell us when and where it feels too hot, so we can assess capacity, airflow and control.
Heating when temperatures drop
Reverse-cycle systems provide heating as well as cooling. We consider the different rooms, operating hours and comfort needs when planning equipment and controls.
Air conditioning and fresh air need to work together
Temperature control is one part of a comfortable workplace. Fresh-air supply and extraction need their own assessment; a standard recirculating air conditioner does not provide ventilation by itself. For a wider building project, explore our commercial HVAC solutions.
Built around your workplace
Comfort for the way you do business
Different spaces need different conversations. Tell us how yours is used, when it is occupied and what needs to improve.
Offices & workplaces
Open-plan desks, meeting rooms and shared spaces: tell us where temperatures are uneven and which areas need separate control.
Shops & retail
Share your opening hours, customer areas and fit-out plans so the discussion starts with the way your shop operates.
Hospitality
Let us know which dining, guest or staff areas need heating or cooling, alongside any separate ventilation requirements.
Industrial premises
Identify the spaces people occupy, the equipment already in place and any access restrictions we need to plan around.

Your system options
Which air conditioning system fits your premises?
The right system depends on the building’s heating and cooling loads, room layout, ceiling space and how different areas are used.
High-wall & ceiling cassettes
High-wall units serve defined rooms; ceiling cassettes keep wall space free and distribute air from above. Suitability depends on the layout, ceiling space and required output.
Ducted air conditioning
Concealed equipment delivers air through ducts and grilles. A site assessment checks space for ductwork, access for servicing and how air will reach the occupied areas.
VRF multi-zone systems
Variable refrigerant flow systems suit projects with several zones and individual room controls. We assess the building layout, operating patterns and the proposed system configuration.
Rooftop & packaged units
Options for larger premises where the building and installation route suit packaged equipment. Roof access, equipment location and future maintenance access need to be planned.

What does a maintenance visit cover?
The agreed service can include filters, coils, condensate drains, operating checks and controls. We identify faults or further work and explain the next step, with the scope matched to your equipment.
When should you arrange a check?
Reduced airflow, uneven temperatures, new noises, indoor water leaks or recurring fault codes are reasons to contact us. For routine care, follow the manufacturer’s requirements and a schedule suited to operating hours and site conditions.

How we work
From site visit to handover
Understand the premises
We assess the layout, existing equipment, access and how each space is used. Bring your plans and any known issues to the discussion.
Agree the scope & timing
Your written proposal sets out the recommended equipment, installation work and programme. Clarify exclusions and access arrangements before approving it.
Install, test & hand over
We install and commission the system, explain the controls and discuss servicing. Keep the handover documents for your property records.
Have a fit-out deadline? Include it in your enquiry so we can discuss availability and sequencing.
Clear scope before work starts
What does commercial air conditioning cost?
Costs depend on capacity, the number of zones and the work needed to install the equipment. A site-specific proposal lets you compare the scope and total including GST.
The space
Floor area is only a starting point. Occupancy, glazing, equipment heat, ceiling height and the way rooms are used affect the design.
The installation
Pipe runs, ductwork, electrical supply, drainage, outdoor-unit placement and roof or ceiling access all affect the work involved.
The programme
Phased work, restricted access and working around opening hours can affect the programme. Tell us about your tenancy and fit-out deadlines early.

Which system is right for our business?
The right system depends on the premises and how each area is used. A site assessment lets us compare suitable options and explain the proposed layout.
How much will installation cost?
We provide a project-specific quote after reviewing the site and scope. Include the address, plans, current equipment and intended timing in your enquiry.
Can you work with our existing air conditioning?
Yes, we can assess an existing system for servicing, repairs or replacement. Send its make, model and a short description of the problem if available.
Can installation happen while we remain open?
The working arrangements need to be agreed for your site. Tell us your opening hours, occupied areas and access limits so disruption can be considered in the programme.
How often should commercial air conditioning be serviced?
The service schedule depends on the equipment, operating hours and conditions. We’ll discuss a maintenance plan after reviewing the system and manufacturer requirements.
Can you help with a new fit-out?
Yes, we work on new commercial projects and upgrades. Involve us while the layout is being planned and share the details of your builder or project manager.
What should I do if the system breaks down?
Call 09 945 3808 to discuss the fault and appointment availability. Have the site address, equipment details and any displayed fault code ready.
What warranty is included?
Warranty terms depend on the selected equipment and agreed work. Ask for the manufacturer and installation warranty details in your written proposal before approving it.
Can the same system provide heating and cooling?
Yes. Reverse-cycle air conditioning can provide both. We assess the heating and cooling requirements when selecting the system and planning its controls.
Will air conditioning provide fresh air?
Not necessarily. Many systems recirculate indoor air, so fresh-air ventilation and extraction need separate consideration. We can discuss these requirements as part of a wider commercial HVAC project.
Should we repair or replace an older system?
Start with an assessment of the fault, condition and suitability of the existing equipment. Compare the proposed repair with replacement costs, parts availability, warranty and the needs of your premises.
